On a RELAXING DAY, check out our Fish Ladder at the Bridge and then stroll the riverwalk along the Beaver River to Georgian Bay. In the summer you can appreciate the majesty of the sails and the sleek power boats on the bay. Enjoy any one of the nearby beaches or parks. Or from the fish ladder you can stroll up Bruce Street, visit our wonderful villages shops, and continue on to be impressed by the historic mansions of the village and our peaceful neighbourhood.
NEED MORE ACTIVITY? Drive up Grey Road #2, past several apple orchards, to Ravenna, turn left and drive west down the very scenic Mountain Road to the Scenic Caves Nature Preserve. Explore the caverns, caves and rock formations. Scenic Caves has the only Suspension Bridge in Southern Ontario. Imagine a 410 foot walk through the treetops! You'll feel like you're on top of the world as you survey the villages and town below as well as the blue expanse of Georgian Bay. For the daring, there is also a catwalk through the trees. This is a guided tour which takes approximately an hour. Running shoes are a must at Scenic Caves - no admittance otherwise.
You can rent a canoe in Heathcote and paddle the river at your own pace or take a guided tour in a kayak. (Free Spirit Tours)
Whether you just need to walk off that tasty lunch or burn up the calories collected during last night's fabulous dinner at one of our exceptional restaurants, you can hike the famous Bruce Trail or walk or bike the Georgian Trail which connects Collingwood, Craigleith, Thornbury and Meaford. Golfers have several golf courses in the area to choose from including the Raven at Lora Bay and the Georgian Bay Golf Club.
Winter enthusiasts can enjoy skiing at Blue Mountain Resort. Cross country skiing and snowshoeing is available for free on the Georgian Trail, the Bruce Trail as well as the Loree Forest and Kolapore Uplands.
